Announcement of the Refresher Course in Bangkok, Thailand from 1-21 May 2010
It is with great pleasure that we send you the announcement of the Refresher course “Sustainable Housing in Times of Climate Change – A Gender Perspective -. The refresher course will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 10 – 21 May, 2010. Deadline for applying is 27 March. Still fellowships available!
The course will be hosted by the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) in close collaboration with the National Housing Authority (NHA), the Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), Chulalongkorn University and the Netherlands Alumni Association of Thailand (NAAT). The course is sponsored by NUFFIC. The official language of the course is English. There are 20 places available. It is one of a series of refresher courses that IHS carries out for alumni. All alumni who previously benefited from an NFP fellowship from Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia are eligible to apply for an NFP fellowship to participate in this refresher course. Conditions to apply:
You have attended a course at IHS or another Dutch Higher Education institute funded by NFP and graduated before May 2008.
Any NFP alumnus can also ask for a colleague to apply together.
Please note: if you are not an NFP alumnus and can secure your own means to finance your participation in the refresher course (e.g. not applying for the NFP fellowship) you are also welcome to apply. Your admission depends on the number of places still available on the course and your motivation (see below).
IHS will select the applications according to the criteria below. Alumni who want to apply need to:
Have affinity with and/or work related to sustainable development planning, housing and human settlement planning, environmental planning, green technologies and gender planning.
Submit a motivation statement and describe briefly the conditions affecting sustainable development in their countries, regions, or cities from the perspective of housing, explaining also how these conditions affect vulnerable groups of the society.

3) curriculum vitae
Please note that ONLY a digital (not hand written) submission is accepted. The application form should have you and your employer’s signature. You can scan the signed form and email it as an attachment (soft copy), or you fax us the signed form to +31 10 4089826. We will inform participants of the outcome of the selection process by 12 April 2010.
